  2. NEVER USE 20VOL. Use 1:1 with 10vol. 4 people found this helpful

    Pro here. I tone with these frequently. BUT I mix them with equal parts 10 vol and get PERFECT results. NEVER damaged, uneven, or overly tonal if mixed 1:1 with 10vol. Always use Olaplex No. 1. AND ALWAYS process under heat for NO MORE/NO LESS than 30 mins. NEVER shampoo after! Add water and emulsify repeatedly. All color is in a shampoo base-USE Read more about review stating NEVER USE 20VOL. Use 1:1 with 10vol.IT FOR WHAT IT’S THERE FOR-to activate with water to remove the color, then rinse rinse rinse. ALWAYS use Wella Post Color Treatment (TWICE, leave it on for 10 mins the second time-never less!) after rinsing color out via emulsification and rinsing. Reminder: these ARE PERMANENT toners, even with equal parts 10vol. DO NOT use 20, it’s too damaging compared to 10. No, 10vol doesn’t make it darker. NEVER apply these toners to ANYTHING (including purposefully darker toned/colored hair) other than levels 8 and 9 (blue bases:level 8, blue-violet/violet-blue: level 9, violet:level 9. TIP: Olaplex No.s 1 and 2 then a protein and a moisture treatment before applying. I add Joico protein reconstructor to the color formulation, as well as 2 sweet&lows to protect the scalp-DO IT, it works.

    The results of this product are amazing! However it's so hard to make it work the right way. In my case only a few strands of hair got to the bright bleached tone i needed, so i ended up getting ashy blond with strands of silver. It also lasts very very little which makes it a high maintenance look. and having to purchase all the products to achieRead more about review stating The results of thisve it can be costly in the long run.

    I just used this on my sons hair after bleaching. His hair was yellow-ish and it turned his hair light blond - not quite platinum but very light with no yellow tones. Very happy with the results.
